A total of 6 Actinomycetes were isolated from the rhizosphere soil region of Lantana camara and Curcuma longa. All the isolates were screened for antifungal potential against Aspergillus niger, Curvularia lunata and Candida albicans. However, only one isolates (LC3) showed highest antimicrobial activity against C. albicans, with the inhibition zone of 20.0 mm. Based on the morphological and biochemical characteristics the potent strain was identified as the genus Streptomyces.
